We have always intended to be a force of connection, bridging cultures, crossing the different genres of creativity and creating cherished moments all while paying ode to the brilliance of the makers across the continent and in our diaspora.

Despite always knowing that we would create experiences globally as part of the ALÁRA journey, this was our first attempt at bringing our world to life outside our Lagos flagship. We took with us over 100 brands from across 20 countries, we shut down part of the city with Instagram and Asake, we engaged in discussions with our iconic friends in the creative world, we moved heads of governments across the city and with the help of Chef Serigne Mbaye, we brought Nok flavours into the heart of Brooklyn.

Looking back on our journey to the Brooklyn Museum, I don’t think I, or anyone else on the team, realised the scale of what we were doing when we set out to do it and the impact it would have and still has for that matter. From becoming experts in international shipping to training a whole retail team on our products to bringing everything to life alongside the African Fashion exhibit within the walls of the Brooklyn Museum. It really did take all our blood, sweat and tears but we loved every minute of it and will forever cherish the conversations we had with you in our space.

To everyone who made it happen; OSHE!
